Tattooed Eyebrows - Before Treatment

I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER!!
By Michelle B. - Nov 1, 2009

I had my eyebrows tattooed a dark brown in June of 2002 one year after they were blotchy and light grayish/blue. Even though I felt that Tattoo Removal Laser Clinic in SO would do a much better job, I went to TMD MediSpa as my mom was paying for it. I had my consultation with Jeannine. She looked at my eyebrows, did the test treatment and explained that they are already faded a lot that I might be able to get away with only 1-2 treatments. She didn't numb me at all and the test spot was extremely painful. I ask if the treatment would hurt like that and she said no I won't feel a thing, because I will have their numbing gel on prior to the treatment. The test spot removed my tattoo from that spot 100%. I was so happy and after talking with Jeannine, she reassured me that it would only take a one or maybe two treatments. So I booked my appointment for 3 days later and received my treatment. I did apply their numbing gel, however it felt like I didn't have any on during the treatment. I felt everything and it was horrible, but I sucked it up because I really wanted these tattoos off of my face. After the treatment I looked in the mirror and didn't see any difference. she told me that my body will need time to break down the ink for the next 6 weeks but I will probably need 3-4 more treatments. I put back on my make-up (which is a big no no but when I ask Jeannine she told me it would be perfectly fine!!) and left. I felt like I was lied to needless to say and that Jeannine adjusted the settings on the laser so that it wouldn't remove the tattoo like it did in the consultation. I contacted the Dr. Kaplan who is the owner. He told me that he trusts his employees and they would never say anything that isn't true or do anything that is unethical. He then said if I had any other issues to contact the office manager Wendy and she would help me further if I needed. I told my mom what happened and she said to give it one more try so I did. I made an appointment for 8 weeks after my treatment. The treatment was extremely painful and when I looked I in the mirror I didn't see any difference again. She told me that the ink could just be stubborn and I will need 5-8 treatments. That's when I knew she was full of sh*t. I never booked another appointment with them but I was determined to get the results I was looking for.

I called Tattoo Removal Laser Clinic in SO in October of 2009 and spoke with Michael. After telling him my story he remembered me and told me they would love to have me come in for a consultation. I booked an appointment for the following day and met with Michael. He went over the treatment with me in detail, explaining that they will use injections to numb me so I will not feel pain at all, that they can't make any promises or guarantees but they will do their best to remove my tattoos. He did tell me not to put anything on the area for the next 7 days except the medicine they would give me in the care packet after the treatment.

During the consultation he had Patricia (the Nurse who will be performing my treatment) come over and look at my eyebrows with a magnifying glass. While she was looking at them Michael explained my story to her and she told me that I was an idea case and that I will see results with the first treatment, as long as the ink responses to the laser without turning darker.

After my consultation Patricia did a test spot to ensure the ink would respond to the laser without turning darker. She made sure I was comfortable, went over my medical history with me and then started explaining how the process would go. First she applied 3 layers of eye protection, cleaned the area and began injecting me with the numbing stuff. She made sure I was completely numb by checking with little pokes to make sure I didn't feel anything. When I did still feel something she re numbed it. Then she started the test spot. It went perfect! So she continued with the treatment telling me to let her know if I felt anything painful. During the treatment she would ask me what level or pain I was feeling if any (1 no pain/10 extreme pain). I was always a 1 or 2 except in this one spot where it was more like a 6 or 7. She stopped the laser immediately prepared a new needle and injected me and then made sure it was numb with little pokes before she continued. When she was all done she explained all of the after care steps and what to expect. I looked in the mirror and finally I saw results!!! They were already 40-50% gone!! Patricia told me that will fade more for the next 3-6 months and that most likely I will not need another treatment. =) She also offered me Tylenol for the soreness and remind me to drink lots of water. Both Patricia and Michael told me to call them for any reason and that Patricia would call me tomorrow. Patricia did called me the next day to check up on me. She wanted to make sure I wasn't in any pain and to keep that area out of the sun and clean. She asked me if I had any questions for her and that if I did later to just give her a call any time.

Even though Tattoo Removal Laser Clinic was more expensive per a treatment than the first place I went to. It would have cost more at TMD MediSpa in the long run. I would highly recommend Tattoo Removal Laser Clinic over any other place for their honestly, quality, professionalism, extremely high standards, knowledge and state of the art equipment.

Thank you so much Michael and Patricia, you truly changed my life!!!

You made me a better Doctor!
Eighteen years ago, I was in China and had black permanent eyebrow make up applied. For many years since then, I have applied concealer, and then drawn on my eyebrows. I have wanted to have them removed, but was afraid of making things worse. An associate of mine had a similar eyebrow situation. She received treatment @ your clinic and experienced a notable improvement. I made the decision to schedule a consultation. I expressed my concerns of vision loss, scarring, and down time. You addressed each question and did an excellent job of explaining the procedure. I felt instantly comfortable. After treatment about 80% of the ink was gone! I am thrilled, each week they fade a little more. I may only need 1 treatment. I am a Ob/Gyn doctor and I speak with a lot of new mothers. I always avoided eye contact, having been self conscious about my eyebrows. Now I connect with my patients face to face. Your motivation for perfection, professionalism and results are inspiring. The clinic is clean, friendly, and helped restore my self esteem, thank you. Dr. C, M.D.

Photos below show the difference in appearance before any treatments, after treatments are complete, and natural eyebrow hair has re-grown.

A Thank You for Michael
I wanted to take a moment to express my thanks to Michael for taking the time to educate me about the process of eyebrow removal/permanent makeup. I was unsure if I was a viable candidate for the laser procedure. He was very informative in answering my questions and providing me with the necessary information to assist with taking further steps. Before talking with Michael, I was unaware of vital information, for example, knowing more about the dyes used in permanent makeup and the best way to approach a resolution for my “messed up” eyebrows (which had turned pink). Thanks for taking the time to educate me and for your guidance. Sophia, Los Angeles, CA

No pictures please!
When I was 16 I got jet black eyebrows tattooed on and I hated it. I had to cut my bangs to hide them. Now I am 26 and only have 3 photos of myself in the past 10 years. I would not allow anyone to take pictures of me and was afraid my eyebrows would show. It only took 2 treatments to remove them. I wish I would have done it sooner. I feel a lot better. I bought a camera. Jenny C.
