Hello! My name is Ben, I live in central New York. I have a black tattoo on my left forearm, a very simple design with very thin black lines of mountains and a sun. Needless to say, it was a very big mistake; it is very important that I remove this tattoo. After seeing your photo gallery I am extremely impressed with the results you have posted. I was wondering if you know of any laser tattoo removal businesses in New York or near New York that produce similar results. I’ve seen many photo galleries online that do not compare with your before and after pictures, if you had any professional suggestions or recommendations I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks so much,
Ben
Dear Ben,
Thank you for the compliments on our work and results.
We use real 35mm film, no digital manipulation. The photography on the website is from our actual patients, not photos supplied from the laser manufacturers. We find it comical that so many laser clinics state “over 20,000 to 50,000 procedures done” and yet they have no pictures to support these claims. I am sure you saw this too in your research.
You have two factors in your favor. Having your tattoo on the upper body (good circulation) and black ink responds best for laser tattoo removal. The lighter your skin tone the less chance for complications.
I would suggest finding a specialist that uses a ND: Q-switched YAG laser for black ink tattoo removal. Ideally have 5 or more years experience. Own- not rent their lasers. And be able to show genuine before and after results. I would also ask, who is going to do the procedure, and their qualifications. Perhaps meet with them to make sure you feel comfortable.
A well established private clinic is best for quality results. Is the same specialist doing all of your treatments? The laser franchise chains can have a high turn over of staff. You may get a different person each time doing your laser treatment. We have found that building a relationship with the patient is important. Customizing each laser treatment, while providing the safest and optimal outcome for tattoo removal.
The laser chains usually charge less money up front to lock you in. Commonly using a square inch pricing method. And in some cases, turn down the laser, and under-treat the area. Costing you more money and treatments. They work on high volume and try to see a patient every 10 minutes. You get what you pay for here. That being said, we have been surprised how much some new clinics are charging.
It is important during a consultation, that a detailed medical history is taken, risks and benefits are reviewed, and all your questions are answered. Establishing reasonable expectations of your removal. Avoid high pressure sales tactics. I would recommend having more then one consultation.
Consider contacting your local county Medical Society or Dermatology Society, for referrals in your area. Good luck in your quest. I hope you find some of the suggestions helpful. It shared as educational information not as medical advice.
Best regards,
Patricia R., RN, MSN,NP (Nurse Practitioner), DN-C (Dermatology Nurse- Certified).
